ABOUT US
I. Survey
Founded in 1999, we currently
have faculty members of 65, including 3 professors, 12 associate professors, of
whom 3 hold a doctoral degree and 25 master
degree. In addition, we have invited Prof. Sun Zhili and Prof. Zhang Guangjun, doctoral
tutors from Luoyang PLA Foreign Languages Institute, as our guest professors. Devoted
vigorously and meticulously in edu-cation, our staff members have made great achievements
both in language instruction and academic research.
We offer 3 undergraduate
programs for 637 students across the country: English program, Korean program and
Chinese program. In English program, students are offered two course modules: English
plus Korean, a bilingual module, and English plus translation/business English.
For Korean students, modules of Korean plus English, and Korean plus business are
offered. Chinese program offer 2 bilingual modules: Chinese plus English, and Chinese
plus Korean.
The department can well
meet the needs of instruction equipped with excellent educational facilities, including
11 digital language labs with a total capacity of more than 912 seats, and a collection
of over 8,000 books in our reference room.
In recent years, with
the increase of international exchanges, more students from our department have
the opportunites to go abroad as exchange students for study or practice.
II. Our specialites and achievements
1. Korean program
Korean program has made
fruitful achievements ever since her establishment in 2004. For example, 95 percent
of the stu-dents from Korean program can pass the “Intermediate Korean Examination”
and 90 percent can pass “Advanced Korean Examination” annually held by
Korea
. In the “2007 Sino-Korea Science-Technology Fair”, the students who volunteered
in interpreting were highly praised for their excellent performance by Korean guests.
Upon graduation, more students obtain work compared with other programs of the University.
2.“College English” and “Englsih-Chinese Translation”: Excellent
Courses of the University
“College English”, a public English course for all students
of the University, was named “Excellent Course” for its out-standing teaching reform
in course structure, content, device and pedagogics in 2006. This year, another
course, “English-Chinese Tran-slation”, has been rated “Excellent Course” for its
teaching quality.
